Visitors with wheelchairs
The main entrance to the Australian Museum is through the Crystal Hall found on the corner of College and William Streets. The entry is via a ramp and is wheelchair accessible.
The Australian Museum provides access to all areas of the Museum for people in wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Please note that there is no parking available at the Museum.
Metered parking is available in all surrounding streets. For more information visit City of Sydney website.
General Admission and major exhibition entry is free to those who hold a Companion Card and are assisting as a carer. Further discount will apply when presenting a Centrelink Healthcare Card or Pension Card. See our pricing page for further details.
Borrowing a wheelchair
You may borrow a wheelchair during your visit. Please ask at the Admission Desk on arrival at the Museum.
Getting around the Museum
There are ramps throughout the exhibitions and two lifts to take you between all floors. All doors are automatic.

Wheelchair accessible toilets are located on all public gallery floors including Level G, 1 and 2. A wheelchair accessible toilet is also located on Level 4 by No. 1 William.
Baby change rooms
Baby change rooms are found on Level G and Level 2.
There are two lifts in the Museum which go to all public levels.
Eating in the Museum
There are three accessible areas to eat in the Museum.
- No. 1 William is located on Level 4 and is accessible by both lifts.
- There is a café located in the atrium on Level G with seating.
- The Garden café is located on William Street and has seating and a pop-up coffee cart. It is also a space for visitors who bring their own lunch.
- There is a hearing loop installed in the Hallstrom Theatre at the Museum.
- The Museum opens at 9:30am which is generally when the Museum is at its quietest.
- School holidays and rainy days can be very busy.
- School term is quieter unless there are a lot of school students booked in.

The AM offers a variety of specially designed programs and resources for visitors with disabilities and their families including tactile and sensory tours. The tours must be organised in advance. Please call 9320 6163.

The Australian Museum is located on the corner of College Street and William Street in central Sydney, just across the road from Hyde Park and opposite St Mary's Cathedral.
Car parking station
Take advantage of our promotional parking with Secure Parking when you visit.
Secure Parking is only a ten minute walk away, located within the Hilton Sydney Hotel, Pitt Street.
Simply ask our staff for your parking rebate ticket and present this with your original ticket when you collect your car to receive a great daily parking rate.
Park for up to 3-hours for only $15.00 and beyond 3-hours at a great CBD flat-rate of just $20.00.
Convenient to Westfield, Myer, QVB, David Jones and Hyde Park. Make your visit to the Museum a visit to the city, too.

There is metered parking available on streets near the Museum.
The nearest train stations are St James, Museum and Town Hall. Each are of equal distance to us and are an easy seven-minute walk.
Please note that Museum Station does not offer lift access at this stage.
If you have a stroller or wheelchair, please note that your journey through Hyde Park will end in stairs at each of the Museum corners on College/Park Streets. Level exit is available at the St Mary's Cathedral pedestrian crossing if coming from St James Station, and at the corner of College and Liverpool Streets if coming from Museum Station.
For bus services arriving in the city centre, alight near Hyde Park or Town Hall and simply walk east along Park Street towards Kings Cross - a 7 to 10 minute walk.
